What do I need to bring to class?

For the Basic RiderCourse® you will need to provide the following items. In addition, get plenty of rest as the classes are both physically and mentally demanding.
Helmet - DOT approved (furnished by request)
Eye Protection (Face shield or Safety Glasses)
Over-the-Ankle Leather Footwear with low heels
Long Pants (denim or material of equal durability)
Long-sleeved Shirt or Jacket
Full-fingered Gloves (preferably leather)

For the Experienced RiderCourse® you will need the following items:
A street Legal motorcycle that passes a safety inspection by the instructor. Extensively modified bikes such as "choppers" may not be used
Proof of Insurance for the motorcycle used in training
Written permission for use of the motorcycle if not owned by the student
Helmet and eye protection
Gloves that completely cover the fingers and palms
Long sleeved shirt or jacket
Long pants-jeans, leather or other heavy material
Over the ankle leather footwear with low heels

Do I need my own motorcycle for class?

For the Basic RiderCourse® you will be provided with a training motorcycle. For Experienced RiderCourse®.” you will need to ride your own motorcycle.

How long are the classes?

Basic RiderCourse®:
Friday: 6:00-9:45 pm
Saturday: 8:00 am – 6:30 pm
Sunday: 8:00 am - 6:30 pm
Experienced RiderCourse®:
8:00 am – 6:30 pm

Will I be issued a license when I complete this course?

YES! Tennessee waives both the written and riding portions of the motorcycle-endorsement test for students who have successfully completed a RiderCourse®. Upon successful completion of the RiderCourse® you will be issued a rider skill and written knowledge test waiver, which can be presented to any Tennessee Drivers License station to receive a Motorcycle License. You will be charged a fee to receive a Motorcycle Drivers License and an eye examination may be required.

What should I do if I cannot make a scheduled class?

Cancellations or rescheduling must be made seven days prior to scheduled class. Cancellations after that will forfeit tuition and will not be rescheduled. Extenuating circumstances will be reviewed and considered by the site administrator. Call the number on the Schedules page for cancellations or if you have questions.
